Over the past week, Sean and I have met with directors from various organizations and governmental departments inlcuding the local Mental Health Services Centre, Rainbow Orphanage, Centre for Environment, Department of Social Work, Department of International Relations, Department of Education and Science, Administration of Khanty-Mansiysk, Centre of Sport for People with Disabilities, and the Rehabilitation Centre. We learned a great deal about how the various services involving youth and youth with disabilities function and we also established partnerships and communication. On Friday we met with some youth from Rainbow Orphanage and became acquainted. On Saturday we took them all out for a movie.
On Sunday we organized a soccer game at a field nearby the orphanage. It was quite interesting to see how through recreation, many of the previous language barriers were overcome.
Monday was an interesting day as the youth took us around their city and showed us various points of interest. Things are going well and we are excited for the adventures to come!
