The Final Days

On Friday, due to popular demand, we took our group back to the aqua park. It was clear the last time they had a blast, so we thought we'd make it the last excursion. As predicted we all had a great time! More kids came out than we had expected which was a great thing to see.

Sadly, on Sunday we had to bring the project to a close. We did so in the classic Canadian tradition of a potlatch meal. We rented a space at a local establishment where there was also an indoor play park. We brought our own dish; we cooked up some Indian Chicken Curry which our Russian audience seemed to enjoy, despite it perhaps being a tad too spicy. We had cake and drinks, and the kids got a chance to play in the play park.

Afterwards we went on a mini-train ride of the city centre where we were able to see some of the local attractions. We then followed up the ride with a nice stroll through the park where we said our last goodbyes and exchanged contact information for future correspondence. Tomorrow we have a final meeting with the directors of the rehabilitation centre to discuss future partnerships and programs.

We believe our project was a success. Both Sean and I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work with the children here in Khanty-Mansiysk. We learned alot through this experience which we hope to implement in future projects.
